Words of Love Unspoken [A Song]

Note: normally I include an explanation following the song lyrics, but … this song is actually about how difficult it is to formulate love into words used by the logical mind. It was written in Enterprise, Florida and, like all my songs, are words of truth.

well, i wrote you a letter
it was five whole pages long
but i never sent it, because when you get it
i thought that feeling might be gone

so i kept it for myself
that little, folded love note
wrapped up, never read
in an unmarked envelope

i thought i’d save it for the day
when you would feel the same
at least i hope our love will grow
not get forgotten or stagnate.

so i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.
i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.

i’m not quite sure why
i never sent it
there’s so much love
that i could give

maybe the reason
i never did
is ‘cuz half of you’s a man
and the other still a kid

your journey will continue
an show you so much more
the question is whether what you want
is what you’re looking for.

so i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.
i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.

i feared that if i spoke these words
aloud blatantly
you might get scared and not understand
what i mean

you are a beautiful,
attractive, sentient being
at the same time i wanna hold you
i wanna set you free

i do not know
what has taken hold of me
it must be the kind of love
of which i cannot speak.

so i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.
i’ll leave these words of love unspoken,
never sent, never read.
i’ll leave you on your journey
and keep what might have been inside my head.
